Children's Restoration Network

Helping Homeless Children

About Children's Restoration Network

Children's Restoration Network (CRN) is a non-profit agency focusing on the plight of homeless children in our community. In addition to meeting basic needs, CRN conducts special events to provide a broad range of positive experiences for the children and their mothers to promote healthy and happy community interaction.

During its productive sixteen year history, CRN has dedicated its efforts to fulfilling its mission and vision statements working with 128 shelters and group homes throughout metro-Atlanta, serving over 2,000 children each day, 3,400 each year. While children are our main focus, we also realize that assisting the mother is usually the best way to help the child. Programs are therefore directed towards both children and their mothers to ease their transition through homelessness.

In-shelter, one-on-one mentoring programs give the children who have fallen seriously behind in basic skills because of their situation a needed boost to their academic achievement. Special attention and understanding fosters greater self-esteem and personal responsibility in the children. Mothers are offered Career Preparation workshops to increase their likelihood of success in the job market. A growing corps of dedicated, community-minded volunteers and staff implements CRN programs.

CRN's Back 2 School program provides new bookbags and school supplies and brings together over 1,000 homeless kids together to meet and greet, sometimes their own brothers and sisters who might be in different homes. Our Spring Fling  provides new outfits and shoes for the kids and our Easter Gala is an afternoon of food, fun, and friendship. Our 12 Days of Caring program provides new toys, gifts, and clothing to ensure that these kids have a happy and memorable Holiday Season. If you, or your organization really want to make an ongoing difference in the lives of a group of kids consider CRN's Adopt-a-Shelter  Program. You can get to know the kids at a particular shelter or group home, help them throughout the year and plan activities with them.

CRN's New Hope Scholarship provides a second chance for further education to good hard working kids who, because of their difficulties, just couldn't qualify for Georgia's New Hope scholarship. In our Friends Indeed program volunteers clean up, paint, and fix up the homes of the kids and also take the kids to sporting and cultural events, bowling, boating, and other fun experiences.

CRN also helps provide homeless children and mothers with basic necessities such as providing food and subsidizing rent and utilities for shelters, supplementing their food pantries, and providing furniture, house wares and other assistance for families recovering from homelessness.

To provide needed support for its programs, Children's Restoration Network recruits volunteers and solicits contributions, sponsorships and in-kind support from individuals, clubs, organizations and the business community. A CRN representative would like to talk with you about financial and/or volunteer support for one or more of these events and activities. Year-round volunteers are particularly needed for job training/placement and tutoring programs.
