The TYLER Project
The TYLER Project (Transforming Young Lives & Encouraging Recovery) is a brand-new CRN initiative that will offer hope and support by providing opioid overdose kits, specialized mentoring and counseling, and various activities/experiences to residents of group homes and shelters, as well as community groups that serve the underserved in metro Atlanta.
Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that has caused accidental overdoses and deaths to skyrocket in our community. It is important to understand that many people who have fallen victim to Fentanyl have no idea what they are about to take is a synthetic, deadly opioid. Therefore, getting overdose reversal kits out into the hands of the facilities and organizations we support is the crucial first step of this program.
Phase 1 of The TYLER Project provides opioid reversal kits (Narcan), as well as in-person training for key staff and volunteers on how to use the kit. What the reversal kit provides to the person overdosing is a chance of another tomorrow. It will give a chance to a mother or father, sister or brother or friend to hold their loved one again. Narcan is a very simple tool that can give a person a fighting chance at life.
Phase 2 of The TYLER Project will provide specialized mentoring/counseling services to individuals. We will also be including group activities and experiences that will bring the joy of living to those that need a dose of happiness and a sense of normalcy. Providing a reason to smile and experience joy is a wonderful and simple way to help those struggling and give them hope for a better tomorrow.
Of the various programs and services offered by CRN over the last 30 years, The TYLER Project is our most personal to date. Named after Tyler Kinsey, the son of CRN’s CEO Cliff Kinsey, this project honors the life of Tyler Kinsey who died at age 22 in 2023 due to an accidental opioid overdose. The TYLER Project is Tyler’s family’s way of honoring his life and to try and help others. Tyler was compassionate, caring, generous, and very loving and his family is determined to make sure those qualities continue with this program, and perhaps one day save lives.
